Candle Magick When burning candles always take fire safe precautions. Depending on the magick or spell you are preforming the way a candle burns (or doesn't burn) can mean different things. Candles may burn differently due to the way they were made, room temperature, draft, etc.
Quick burning candle ~ fast results, request will be answered quickly but may not last long. When burning two candles to represent two people and one burns quicker than the other there could be in balance in the relationship.
Candle smokes heavily when first lit ~ energy is moving, spirits are working
Clean burning (little or no wax left, clear/white smoke) ~ blessing, request will be answered
Dirty burning (black soot or messy wax) ~ may be obstacles in the way, negative energies at work, stressful or tense situation. If the candle burns black and then clears up at the end this could mean that the negativity has been burned away.
Half clean and half dirty burning ~ hidden forces at work, magick being put back on you, unanswered questions
Jumping/leaping flames ~ hesitating, uncertainty. If the candle is part of spell toward someone that person maybe fighting your will.
Smoke/flame moves toward you ~ your request will likely be answered
Smoke/flame moves away from you ~ your request will take time to be answered. If in a cleansing spell smoke moving away from you could me things are being removed.
Smoke/flame moves toward a direction (east, south, west, north) ~ pay attention to the smoke/flame and depending on your specific spell/intention this movement can be influenced by an element/direction.
Flame goes out ~ not a good sign, maybe wrong spell, start over
