Ballybogs

Ballybogs

Origin.. Ireland

Other names .. Bogles, peat faires, mudbogs ,bog-a-boos, boggies

Ballybogs are very round mud covered little creatures. Not known for being smart , not speaking more then a grunting sound. They are found in peat bogs and mud holes. Call upon them to help find peat .

Some people believe that Ballybogs are guardians to the bogs. In the past, ritual human sacrifices were made in the peat bogs and coins have also been found. In return for these sacrifices and gifts, the Ballybog allowed peat to be cut for fuel.

Ballybogs are not altogether pleasant creatures and the English Ballybog or Bogle has a nasty temper.
